All the year 9 groups have taken on the responsibilities of teaching the primary school kids well, I believe. We have all really stepped up and taught the kids what we know whilst making it enjoyable, therefore bettering their learning.
The catch up classes have been very productive for me because I have been absent and having a chance to catch up has benefited me greatly. These classes I believe have been more productive than the theory lessons before the prac started.
My group’s prac lesson was quite successful last week. As I was not present for the very first lesson I do not have much to compare it to, but I still believe it was a success.
Sport coaching prac was a lot different than I expected. It feels really different to be in charge of a whole group of primary school kids. I was also very surprised at how cooperative the kids were, despite most of them not ‘liking’ the sport at first.
During last weeks class I believe that the kids felt more comfortable, as they had a chance to get to know each other the week before. Although the kids are a mix of two schools and a variety of ages, they worked well as a unit.
The prac lessons have been a lot of fun and I feel like we have really motivated the kids to learn more about netball in a fun and exciting way. The kids always come into class prepared and ready to learn something different.
Today’s lesson wasn’t the most exciting lesson that we have had but it was kind of productive. Next lesson we are in the gym doing prac which I find a lot more productive because we actually get to test out our coaching sessions.
Even though I did not get my desired sport the classes have still been interesting and I’ve learnt a lot about how to teach kids without it being boring. Overall I think we are learning the right things that we can actually use in the future.
So far I think sports coaching has been good. It is different to what I thought it would be, but overall it’s still good. I like that we are learning about how to give out our instructions and criticism as well as learning about the given sport.
